A reader emailed me about Sunday's front-page story about the natural gas explosion that destroyed JJ's restaurant near the Plaza last month:

Regarding today's front page story, I can't find any on line references to the existence of a 'North American Gas Workers Association.' Searches for Mark McDonald show him associated with the New England Gas Workers Association

That's the only Web hit I could find either. But that doesn't mean the reference is actually wrong.

I spoke with the editor of a previous story that mentioned McDonald, and he told me the group had changed its name -- a fact I verified with McDonald.

I appreciated that my emailer checked things out, because readers catch many errors in The Star. But this is an example that helps to remind us that many people, businesses and other entities aren't necessarily as plugged in as those of us who spend a lot of time online.
